Effective date: 6 October 2026 | Last updated: 6 October 2026 | Version: 1.0
1. About This Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Reinsurance Solutions (Mauritius) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the website www.reinsurance.mu (the “Website”). It should be read together with our Privacy Notice, which explains more broadly how we process personal data in accordance with the Mauritian Data Protection Act 2017 (“DPA”) and, where applicable, the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (“UK GDPR” and “PECR”).
By continuing to use the Website after making your selection on the cookie banner, you confirm that you have read this Policy and that you have made an informed choice about the cookies you accept.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember preferences, and collect information about how the site is used. We also use related technologies – such as pixels, tags, local storage and similar identifiers – which are treated as “cookies” in this Policy.
Cookies may be:
- First-party or third-party – first-party cookies are set by the Website itself; third-party cookies are set by another domain (for example, an analytics provider).
- Session or persistent – session cookies expire when you close your browser; persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.
3. Our Lawful Basis for Using Cookies
Under the DPA and UK GDPR/PECR, we may only place cookies on your device where:
- Strictly necessary – the cookie is essential for the functioning of the Website or a service you have requested. No consent is required; and
- All other cookies – we have obtained your prior, freely-given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent through our cookie banner.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in the Website footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
4. Categories of Cookies We Use
We only use two categories of cookies on this Website: strictly necessary cookies and analytics cookies. We do not use marketing, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for the basic operation of the Website and cannot be switched off. They are typically set in response to actions made by you, such as submitting a form, setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in a secure field.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| rs_cookie_consent | reinsurance.mu | Stores your cookie choice (accepted or rejected) so we do not ask again on every page. | First-party, persistent | 12 months |
4.2 Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”), provided by Google LLC/Google Ireland Limited, to understand how visitors interact with our Website. GA4 helps us measure audience size, identify which pages are most useful, diagnose technical issues and improve the Website. These cookies are only set after you give consent on our cookie banner.
We configure GA4 with the following privacy-protective settings:
- IP addresses are not logged or stored by GA4;
- Google Signals and cross-device tracking disabled;
- Advertising features disabled – data is not shared with Google’s advertising products;
- Data retention set to 14 months;
- Google acts as our data processor under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google (google-analytics.com) | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly-generated client ID. | First-party (set by Google Analytics), persistent | 13 months |
| _ga_3DNRX4EXSQ | Google (google-analytics.com) | Used by GA4 to persist session state. | First-party (set by Google Analytics), persistent | 13 months |
Google may process analytics data on servers located outside Mauritius and the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where such transfers take place, Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and additional supplementary measures described in its privacy resources. More information is available at

5. Do We Use Marketing or Advertising Cookies?
No. At present the Website does not deploy marketing, advertising, social-media plug-in or cross-site behavioural tracking cookies. If we introduce such cookies in the future we will update this Policy and obtain your consent before activating them.
6. How to Manage Cookies
You can manage or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of the Website. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including deleting existing cookies and preventing new ones from being stored.
